PNG and BMP have no quality slider — they're lossless, so quality only affects JPG, WebP, and AVIF output. AVIF export depends on your browser: if it's not supported, this tool automatically falls back to PNG and tells you so — nothing fails silently. GIF and SVG can be opened here but always convert out as one of the formats above (this tool doesn't re-export animated GIF or vector SVG, only a static raster image).

How to convert an image

  1. Choose an image — click the box or drag a file in. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF and ICO all open.
  2. Pick the format to convert to, set the quality, and optionally enter a maximum width to shrink large images.
  3. Click Convert image and download the result.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats can I convert between?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF and ICO files and convert them to JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP or AVIF.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion uses your browser's own image tools, so the picture never leaves your device.

What happens to transparency when I convert PNG to JPG?

JPG and BMP cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Choose PNG, WebP or AVIF if you need to keep transparency.

Why is the quality box ignored for PNG?

PNG and BMP are lossless, so they have no quality setting. Quality only applies to JPG, WebP and AVIF.

Why did my AVIF turn into a PNG?

AVIF export depends on your browser. If it is not supported, the tool falls back to PNG and tells you so, rather than failing silently.

Do I need a specific file size, like 50KB?

Use Compress Image to KB. You enter the size limit and it finds the best quality that fits.
